Johnny Rock gets you what you need.

My old band, Johnny Rock and The Limits, released a lot of singles and EPs, most of which I designed the cover art for.

For our single, “Give You What You Need,” I decided I would make the artwork by hand, creating an image that I would take a photo of. Drawing inspiration from some illustrations I found of beach chairs, and images of people made from cut out pieces of paper. I went on a bit of an adventure to get the elements I needed and then after covering my mothers dining room table with sand (sorry, ma!) I got the shot!

We filmed the whole thing and you can see the process and execution below.

Another similarly crafty thing I did with the band was the video clip for our single “Shoeshine”. We did that thing where you paint eyes on your chin and go upside down and talk. I don’t know what that’s called! But it was heaps of fun! And we created all these backdrops and scenes out of painted cardboard. You can see that in the second video below.

The final artwork for the single.

This is the original video for our single, Shoeshine. Filmed in my mothers dining room (sorry ma!) it features the band members as “puppets” (?), with special guest appearances from my pets Muffin and Mitzy.
